Shieldpay is the dedicated payments partner for the legal services sector, specialising in delivering seamless, compliant payment journeys for all parties in the transaction
I initially joined Shieldpay as a freelance Lead Product Designer to help a small team of UX UI designers to deliver a simple onboarding process that solved complicated problems. After 3 months, I was asked to join the company as the Head of Experience Design.

The design team were tasked with improving the internal tools for monitoring transactions. As the company moved from manual processes to automating transactions, Shieldpay needed to design and develop monitoring tools that could quickly provide full visibility of the transactions and the associated data, as well as acting as an early warning system for any potential issues that needed manual intervention.

One of the key challenges with design systems is maintaining them and ensuring they stay current and usable. On joining shieldpay I focused on ensuring that our inhouse design system satisfied all our design needs.
- Responsive
- Flexible
- Easy to use
- Up to date
- Maintaining best practice
I worked closely with our front end dev team to help maintain and build our design system in code.
After 10 months in my role, I was asked to managing the full front end team of developers and designers to increase efficiency and connectivity.
During my time at Shieldpay, we embarked on UX research to ensure we understood the key information and needs of the teams that would be using the tools. We conducted user interviews and work shops to have a robust understanding of how people currently do the job and how the roles would change in the future once automation was more established. We then moved on to designing wireframes and eventually through to polished prototypes allowing key stakeholders to provide feedback and ensure the product met the needs of our internal teams.
